If I am on the go I use a cig lighter, just need to take extra time to make sure the heat shrink is heated to shrink but not burnt. The joins appear to be watertight, I've to wait for her reaction to the glue that "might" be left on said straighteners.

When installed and heated, the tube seems to grip nicely on the wire and makes a good seal. A good selection of pieces for the price, have only used about 6 connectors so far, used a heat gun to seal the tubes and have not had any problems. Liked that each connector was colour coordinated for each size so that don't mix them up and contained lot connectors that will last me.

I use a heat gun (mains) on my work bench. PS Straighteners temperature set to 210°CUPDATE: We've had a fairly wet summer and very wet autumn, and the connections (all 18) are still good. With these heat shrink wire connector I can easily joint 2 wires together without the need of soldering. Came in a handy box and easy instructions on how to use the connectors, also had a guide to let you know the different sizes.
